Lip Service (Part 1)

Two major types of aesthetic lip surgery frequently done are:
  1. Lip Reduction
  2. Lip Augmentation

1. Lip Reduction
Prominent lips are features commonly associated with non-Caucasians such as Africans, Asians etc. More often than not, these patients seek to reduce the size of their lips to obtain a balance with respect to their faces. Some might consider bee-stung lips (like that of Shu Qi and Angelina Jolie) are sexy, but in other situations, oversized lips are considered unaesthetic. Again there are multiple ways of doing this depending on the desired results and the problem.

Horizontal Incision (Left): A strip is removed from the offending lip interiorly. The gap is sewn together with fine absorbable sutures.
Vertical Incision (Right): Cut along purple line. Sew it back together. Simple.

regarding your post below. I respectfully disagree with your opinion.
I contend that it is her management company which insisted that she keeep up with the obfuscation. Afterall, it is common knowledge that these companies make their artistes say/not say certain things for the best interests of their careers.

Firsthand news guys! the last pic, she got that new chin recently. i heard from a friend who went to the same surgeon, she only went for skin stuff. can't say who la!.. but yeah this surgeon is very big mouth and told her dawn had her chin lengthened and sharpened and some injection to the jaw!! :O it makes the face smaller i think and the surgeon was even trying to convince my friend to do...

having some time on my hands I studied her pics carefully.

I abserved that her lower lip is probably the offending feature, her upper lip looks like it is still the same. (its kinda thin already, not enough flesh for a horizontal Incision).. her lower lip though look pretty (pun unintended) suspect.

- from someone who is not a plastic surgeon, but a designer, we are trained to look at details.

Hi, I have long desired to reduce the size of my lower lip so that it better coincides with my upper lip. I know lip augmentation occurs frequently, but how common is Lip reduction and is it considered a "safe" procedure? By safe, I mean an uncomplicated procedure. I have attached a photo for your review. Thank you all for your help.
